The Shelter exclusively launches the 132 5. Float collection in-store and online next week, Monday 3 April.

132 5. Numbers that ordinarily have no meaning, yet are rooted in what Issey Miyake’s line was founded on - the engineering of folding constructions.

The numbers in the brand name refer to: (1) piece of clothing becoming a (3) dimensional form that fold into a (2)-dimensional plane, worn on the wearers body to convey a presence in the (5)th dimension that transcends time and space.

The design relies on the work of Jun Mitani, a computer scientist whose software creates flat geometric shapes from single sheets that open into 3D creations.

FLOAT. This season’s Issey Miyake 132 5. collection goes from spinning to floating. A boomerang in the wind, a mobile that catch their air and turns gracefully, air bubbles on the surface if the water rising. Designers bring shapes to life as circular, triangular and hexagonal clothing forms creates air.

The collection features the anticipated Piping Boomerang Pieces, cleverly inspired by a Boomerang flying into the wind. The pieces fold down into its literal shape, while being unrecognisable as a Boomerang when being worn. (The perfect travel hack we think!)
