Introducing OPEL’s all-new Mokka – Bold and Pure

In early November, following a 30-year hiatus of the brand on our shores, OPEL launched in New Zealand with a celebration at Grey Lynn’s Space on Crummer. The brand unveiled its first two EVs to be available in Aotearoa, Mokka-e and Corsa-e, and announced its first Kiwi brand ambassadors, DJ duo Jupiter Project.

Kiwi drivers can now experience the first vehicle from the electrifying new Opel brand; the new bold & pure Opel Mokka.

The Mokka range is the embodiment of Opel – the most efficient German car brand in New Zealand.

“Mokka has been chosen to lead the charge for Opel’s launch for good reason,” says Noah Robertson, Opel NZ Commercial Manager.

“Looking like it’s cut from the future in terms of its styling and driving experience, it brings both low emission or fully electric options alongside high impact German design inside and out.”

One of the standout design features of the Mokka range is the unmistakable Opel Vizor. A seamlessly integrated vehicle grill, assistance systems, LED headlights and the newly designed Opel lightning bolt emblem in one full-width hyper modern element, are all within the protective visor.

Mokka also debuts the Opel Pure Panel – a high-tech and sweeping, yet simplified cockpit incorporating two connected widescreen displays that surround the driver.

“Pure Panel streamlines information you need, intuitive and clear but without the clutter,” says Robertson.

Mokka is also all about action, and it’s got the high-efficiency powertrains and exceptional handling to make it happen. A 100% electric powertrain in the Mokka-e SRi features 260 NM of instantaneous torque with a 0-50 acceleration time of 3.7 seconds. The lightweight electric powertrain with 100 kw (136 hp) is perfectly balanced and tuned to handle either tight city streets or wide-open roads and all challenges in between.

Next-generation battery technology provides the freedom to go further with up to 363kmi on just a single charge. Mokka-e adapts to your driving style by offering you sport, eco and normal driving modes, each adjusting vehicle-wide systems such as pedal mapping and power steering assistance.

Beside the all-electric Mokka-e SRi, are the highly efficient, low emission engines in the Mokka Edition and Mokka SRi. The 1.2 turbo direct injection petrol engine has 96 kw (130 hp) and state-of-the-art CO2 and fuel consumption levels.

This statement-making SUV has recently won several global industry awards including the Top Gear Design of the Year, Automobile Golden Steering Wheel, Autotrader Erin Baker award for Sustainability and more.

“The Mokka range is priced aggressively and accessibly, so more Kiwis can get into lower emission vehicles sooner. Mokka starts at just $38,990 + on-road-costs,” says Robertson.

Model pricing:
• Mokka Edition: from $38,990
• Mokka Sri: from $44,990
• Mokka-e Sri: from $69,990
All three models qualify for the Clean Car Discount, with Mokka-e SRi qualifying for the full rebate of $8,625 and Mokka Edition and Mokka Sri qualifying for a rebate of $1,923.
