In huge news for their legions of fans who enjoy healing through heat, spa sanctuary Hana has expanded its footprint with new rooms and treatment menu.
Since launching in mid-2020, Hana has established itself as the go-to premium spa in Auckland to detox your body, relax your mind and reboot your system with its infrared saunas, red light therapy, and ice baths.
Such high demand for their healing treatments has now meant Hana will add two additional rooms, one of them including a large ice bath to offer more of their sought-after therapies. They will also be extending treatment times to allow for some 60-minute saunas and 75- minute contrast therapy sessions.
Enhancing the healing is the space itself. Just relaxing in Hana’s interior is soothing. Their calming and modern aesthetic has been purposefully designed by Pennant & Triumph.
Guests can also now add on to their spa experiences with Sans Ceuticals Pro Facial Ritual - a 4-step process that combines a powerhouse of key active ingredients and cryotherapy to boost circulation, reduce inflammation and promote healing. Applied during the sauna session, products penetrate deeply for refreshed, renewed and dewy skin.
“The response to our treatments has been so encouraging,” says Hana founder Sara Higgins. “It's wonderful so many have enjoyed their time at Hana and in doing so prioritised their health and self-love. As well as relaxation, each treatment at Hana has head-to-toe benefits such as full detoxification, alleviation from pain, glowing skin, more energy, improved circulation and a strengthened immune system,”
While traditional saunas raise the air temperature to very high levels, infrared saunas heat the body directly, so that only around 20 percent of the heat goes to heat the air. Instead, infrared waves penetrate deep into the body for deep heating, which allows the body to activate sweat glands and eliminate toxins.
At Hana, guests can pair this heat with a two-minute immersion into an ice bath, which sits at six degrees. Named Contrast Therapy, the treatment has numerous benefits including reducing inflammation, constricting blood vessels to redirect circulation towards vital organs, and boosting the metabolism to support weight management.
Also on the treatment menu are full body Photobiomodulation (red light) therapy which uses red and near-infrared light to help mitochondria (the powerhouse of our bodies cells) to function better. Better functioning mitochondria means more energy and less risk for disease. The treatment comes scientifically backed to also repair sun damage, reduce wrinkles, speed muscle recovery, heal scarring and stretch marks, reduce inflammation, boost testosterone levels and enhance collagen
Post-sweat, guests enjoy private showers with filtered water - a critical component post sauna - and complete the spa ritual with luxury towels by Baina.
The leading wellness spa extended its digital offering late last year by launching an online store with a curated selection of effective, natural, non-toxic products. Brands include leading nutritional supplements by Cymbiotika; premium plant powders and elixirs by Orchard Street; and living formulations by Terra Tonics.
Further adding to the online experience is the Hana podcast, where founder Sara discusses alternative health treatments and products with leading practitioners, founders and clients. (HELENE RAVLICH).
