Sales data provided by The Motor Industry Association of New Zealand (Inc), show the LIMA M9 Electric scooter as a standout for the first half of 2022. Not only has the M9 topped the list of Electric mopeds (up to 50cc or equivalent), coming out ahead of UBCO, EGO & FTN Motion but also ranked 4th overall, only being ousted by TNT Roma, Suzuki UZ50 and FORZA CICLONE.
The LIMA M9 was introduced by New Zealand’s leading motorcycle parts & accessory distributor Whites Powersports under their RIDE Division in the latter part of 2021, proving a hit with dealerships and riders across the country.
Whites Powersports RIDE Division Manager Brendan Mayall said, “The M9 is a great product, providing consumers with an option to go electric on their daily commute without the huge investment other electric vehicles carry, all while being able to be ridden on a learners’ car license”.
Lima is sold through Whites Powersports’ established dealer network, which has been curated throughout the company’s 70+ years in business. Dealerships have great trust in Whites, so when they bring a new product to market it is generally well received.
Mayall added, “With congestion issues, excessively rising fuel costs and growing environmental concerns people are looking for ways to reduce their costs and their carbon footprint. Motorcycles in general are a fantastic option, but the LIMA M9 ticks all the boxes for a lot of people, making the choice easy. However, it would be great if the government considered including motorcycles and EV motorcycles in their clean vehicle rebate scheme”.
The LIMA M9 has a single charge range of 45km, a charge time of 6 hours from flat and a charge cost of less than $0.50.
