Local dining INCA creates one for the niños!

Nikkei cuisine – where the fresh, fiery flavours of Peru are deliciously fused with Japanese cooking techniques – is at the heart of acclaimed chef Nic Watt’s INCA, which arrived in Ponsonby earlier this year.

The restaurant is part of the expanded Ponsonby Central precinct. Owned and operated by Watt, INCA Ponsonby has evolved from its sister restaurant, INCA Newmarket, which opened on the rooftop dining area at Westfield Newmarket in late 2019, and is the fourth establishment in Watt’s impressive stable. Watt is also the executive chef and creative lead behind Japanese restaurant MASU, and owner/executive chef of Akarana Eatery in Orakei.

Now a key member of many a Ponsonby local’s line-up of regular favourite dining destinations, INCA Ponsonby serves up the likes of Pacifica kingfish ceviche with coconut, coriander and aji chilli, as well as Black cod marinated in anticucho miso, cooked over coffee charcoal embers and served with ancho chilli daikon. Pair either with a Pisco sour or signature Naughty martini, and you’re guaranteed a taste explosion in your mouth that will keep you coming back for more.

And now, the kitchen has created a whole new offering: one for the niños! INCA Ponsonby has launched a special kid’s menu designed for discerning younger palates, which is perfect for that early evening dinner with the kids or weekend lunch with extended family. On the menu is all-time favourite guacamole, along with edamame beans, salmon sashimi, tempura prawn or karaage chicken tacos, eggplant tempura, corn and sweet potato fritters, chicken karaage and to finish – kid’s churros with chocolate sauce. Delicioso!

Available 7 days at INCA Ponsonby, you can make reservations at incarestaurant.co.nz.
