He Piko He Taniwha – Kahurangiariki Smith
Public artwork celebrating Auckland Pride Festival across Studio One – Toi Tū façade drips and Freyburg steps. This work explores taniwha, a being both monstrous and healing, residing in the waterways, awa and moana of this whenua, whose tail whips into our daily lives.
1 – 28 February

Pride Temporary Tattoo Workshop – HB Pencil
Come along and celebrate Auckland Pride Festival with HB Pencil’s temporary tattoo workshop! You can draw what ‘pride’ means or looks like to you then turn it into a fun temporary tattoo. This is a free workshop with very limited space so book early to avoid disappointment.

Embroidery for Crafty Queers – Von Ridgley
Learn to embroider with fellow queers and your tutor Von. In this three-hour workshop you will create a patch as an expression of what pride means for you. As an introduction to embroidery, you will learn hand sewing hacks and basic stitch techniques.

Pride Poetry Speakeasy Open Mic
2025 marks the tenth anniversary of the Same Same but Different Queer Writer’s Festival, which opens with the PRIDE Poetry Speakeasy and Open Mic in association with Auckland Libraries and Studio One – Toi Tū. Come along to read your work, to listen and enjoy.

Swing by and say hi to Studio One – Toi Tū! Join in on family friendly activities like face painting, badge-making, and colouring-in station.

Beings: Tātou Tātou – Leon Bristow & Frances Carter
Photography exhibition, through a larger kaupapa, to showcase authentic representation of our BIPOC, Rainbow, and Disabled identities, and champion the rich and unmatchable storytelling we bring to media spaces.

Our Stories – Ageing Proud
Organised by a new collective of older gay and bisexual men, Ageing Proud. Join us to bear witness to a personal story-telling event. A small group of older gay and bisexual men will share stories about their lives: where they’ve come from; where they’ve arrived; and their hopes as gay or bisexual men ageing proud.

‘Pressing the Flesh’ – Katie Blundell
Free, self-portrait printmaking experience inspired by German Expressionism and guided by Katie herself. Drop in to explore the art of printmaking (materials included).
