Get out your lycra and legwarmers — Auckland Phil is taking you Back to the 80s.
Experience 80s power ballads and dance classics as you never have before, as synth and symphony collide in the ultimate retro experience. The decade’s biggest hits, such as Madonna’s ‘Material Girl’, Huey Lewis’ ‘The Power of Love’, Cyndia Lauper’s ‘Time After Time’ and much more, have been reimagined and arranged for orchestra by Grammy-winner Jeff Tyzik.
Hear covers of these songs sung by powerhouse vocalists Bella Kalolo, who has sung on stage at Glastonbury Festival, the City of London Festival and more; Maaka Pohatu from the Modern Māori Quartet, and funk-soul vocalist and frontman of the Hipstamatics, Dillon Rhodes.
This night will be a blast from the past — ‘round up your friends, throw on your best 80s outfit and get ready to dance like nobody’s watching.
