Auckland's quietest room to open on Ponsonby Road, and it’s built to hear a beer

Auckland's quietest room to open on Ponsonby Road, and it’s built to hear a beer

When was the last time you gave a single moment your complete, undivided attention? Asahi Super Dry created a space that invites you to do exactly that.

In Japan, the most extraordinary culinary experiences are enjoyed in near silence.

Seek Silence brings that philosophy to Ponsonby Road for two days only. A custom sound chamber at Studio 230 strips away every external sound, leaving just you, a can of Asahi Super Dry Nama Jokki, and the ritual most of us rush past without realising: the crack of the tab, the surge of the foam, the weight of a first sip.

Nama Jokki is Asahi Super Dry's self-foaming draught beer in a can. The entire lid opens, and the beer foams as though poured fresh from a tap. In silence, that moment becomes something else entirely.

Having found silence, guests emerge into an immersive light installation to enjoy canapés from nearby Azabu and the quiet satisfaction of having actually paid attention.

EVENT DETAILS

Seek Silence

Where: Studio 230, Ponsonby Road.

When: Friday 7 August, 3pm-6pm, and Saturday 8 August, 12:30pm-9pm.

Tickets are $20 per person. Sessions are limited and bookings are essential via https://events.humanitix.com/seek-silence

This is a genuinely new sensory format in Auckland's events calendar: not a pop-up, not your ordinary tasting, but a built environment designed around the idea that we've stopped fully paying attention. It's highly visual, easy to book, and built for content.
