Karangahape Road is about to get a little weird. And a little wicked.
On Saturday 31 October from 4.30pm, Karangahape Road will once again transform into Auckland’s biggest Halloween playground as Freak Out returns.
For one night only, Karangahape Road will be taken over by creepy art installations, street projections, DJs, markets, music, makeovers, pop-up performances, trick or treating and fun with comedians Chris Parker and Suzanne Paul judging our annual halloween dog parade.
A HALLOWEEN PARTY FOR THE WHOLE K ROAD FAMILY
Freak Out kicks off at 4.30pm with an afternoon of Halloween fun for kids, families, dogs and anyone who still believes dressing up should be taken very seriously.
From 4.30pm–6.30pm, little monsters can hit the street for:
Free trick or treating at participating K Road businesses
A Halloween Dog Parade hosted by Chris Parker and Suzanne Paul
Face painting and a Halloween makeover station
A mini monsters costume competition (for kids)
A pop-up rave for the kids
Markets and street activities
Halloween-themed art and installations
Music and DJs
A whole lot of creepy K Road surprises
Costumes will be put to the test in the Freak Out Dog Costume Competition, with judging by Chris Parker and Suzanne Paul so expect standards to be high, judging to be ruthless and the competition to be spectacularly overdressed.
THEN THINGS GET DARK
From 6.30pm onwards, Freak Out shifts gears.
As the sun disappears, K Road will light up with street projections along the street, transforming the familiar streetscape into something considerably more spooky. Expect DJs, music, markets, lights, late-night Halloween antics and a street full of people who love fun and Halloween.
There’ll also be a Graveyard Tour for those brave enough to venture into the darker corners of K Road.

Freak Out is a celebration of everything that makes Karangahape Road unique - creative, colourful, unexpected,inclusive and just a little bit unhinged.

What started as a Halloween celebration has grown into one of Auckland’s most anticipated Halloween events - and in true K Road fashion, it’s getting bigger, stranger and more spectacular every year.
