Art has the power to connect people, tell stories and create lasting impact. This August, those qualities come together in 100 Works for Mercy, a unique fundraising auction supporting Mercy Hospice through the generosity of arts educator, collector and Whitecliffe co-founder Michèle Whitecliffe.
The auction features 100 original artworks drawn from Michèle's personal collection, assembled over decades through her lifelong involvement in New Zealand's creative community. From landscapes and portraits to abstracts, etchings and watercolours, each piece reflects a moment in an artist's journey and the relationships that form around art, learning and creativity.
For Michèle, the collection represents a lifetime of supporting artists and fostering creative talent through Whitecliffe, which she established with her late husband, artist Greg Whitecliffe, in 1983. By donating the works, she hopes they will find new homes while helping Mercy Hospice continue its vital work.
Presented with the support of Cordy's Fine Art & Antique Auctioneers and K.S. Thompson Picture Framers, the auction invites seasoned collectors and first-time buyers alike to acquire original art with a meaningful story behind it.
Most importantly, every artwork sold will help fund free specialist hospice care for Aucklanders facing life-limiting illness, ensuring patients and their whānau receive compassionate support when they need it most.
