Aotearoa New Zealand’s finest performers and artists will come together in Tāmaki Makaurau for MAHUTA Matariki Concert, a highly anticipated annual celebration showcasing top-tier kaiwaiata (singers) and storytellers of Te Ao Māori. MAHUTA is unique because it is iwi-led, showcasing homegrown talent and some of the best creatives in the country.
Hosted by Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei and curated by Aotearoa singer, songwriter and musician Majic Pāora, MAHUTA brings together a powerful line-up including Rob Ruha, Betty-Anne, TAWAZ, Jordyn with a Why, Majic, Shelby Te Ua, Alessia Maihi Fifita and VYBE2B.
Majic, known for her powerful voice, strong Māori identity and conscious lyrics, says MAHUTA is a celebration of voices, stories and people, and an opportunity for whānau and communities across Tāmaki Makaurau to come together through music.
“MAHUTA is an opportunity for our next generation to collaborate with high-level leaders and artists within Te Ao Māori. Music is intergenerational and it is a universal language. Waiata has always been a way we maintain and share our stories, and it is part of the ecosystem of building confidence and educating ourselves in who we are.
