The Grey Lynn Business Association (GLBA) is a passionate collective of local business owners working to enhance our vibrant community
As a group driven by the spirit of collaboration and growth, our mission is clear: foster an environment where commerce and community thrive together in Grey Lynn. This mission has taken on renewed energy as we campaign for Grey Lynn to become an official Business Improvement District (BID).
Supporting the BID campaign is simple and impactful. Here’s how you can make a difference:
1. Spread the Word: Share news about the BID campaign with your neighbours and fellow business owners.
2. Join Community Events: Attend our events to stay informed, voice questions, and engage in meaningful discussions.
3. Vote ‘YES’ in the BID Election: Mark your calendars for the voting period from October 21 to November 22, 2024, and vote to help secure a prosperous future for Grey Lynn.
What is the GLBA? The GLBA is a volunteer-driven association that advocates for local businesses in Grey Lynn, hosting events, providing representation, and championing sustainable development. Our efforts aim to keep Grey Lynn an economically thriving, environmentally conscious neighbourhood that continues to be a beacon for residents, businesses, and visitors alike.
Why does a BID matter for Grey Lynn? BID status offers substantial advantages that would propel Grey Lynn into greater economic prosperity and community well-being. Currently, there are 51 BIDs across Auckland, each benefiting from increased support, strategic investments, and opportunities for networking. Becoming a BID would allow Grey Lynn businesses access to the same benefits, ensuring we are no longer missing out.
Our BID area would encompass approximately 400 commercial and 300 residential-based businesses, including an array of shops, creative industries, and more.
Why Now? Grey Lynn is the only inner-city suburb without BID representation in Auckland. As our neighbouring areas continue to grow with BID support, it’s time for us to secure the same future for Grey Lynn. Here’s what BID status would bring:
1. Economic Growth: A BID fosters growth by attracting new businesses and creating an ecosystem of support.
2. Collective Voice: BID status enables a collective voice to advocate for meaningful improvements in Grey Lynn.
3. Networking and Community: A BID creates connections among businesses, building a more supportive environment for everyone.
