Hannah Skinner and Sarah Handy are excited to announce the opening of Indice Studio. The store features a considered selection of European furniture and accessories, with a focus on the Italian brand Driade.
The pair crossed paths in the mid 90’s and discovered a shared passion for the Driade brand. Interior designer Hannah had previously worked with Driade in Milan and brought the agency to NZ through her family business, Skinner Design.
Sarah, a long-time enthusiast and collector, started her career as a producer in fashion and advertising, and eventually migrated to the furniture and design industry.
“We’re thrilled to bring Driade back to New Zealand with a physical store in central Auckland,” says Hannah. “Indice Studio will offer a great point of difference in the Auckland and wider New Zealand market.
There is a lot on offer here, but we think there is room for something more whimsical. The design team at Driade has a handwriting that is innovative and forward focused, whilst also conveying whimsy and joy in the pieces they produce. With impressive collections by Philippe Starck, Faye Toogood and Enzo Mari, to name but a few, there is no way their work goes unnoticed in either a residential or commercial space.”
Sarah adds, “Our business is aimed at helping to create luxurious spaces with a difference, with unique pieces that don’t necessarily conform to the trends of the moment. We want to make it easy for our customers to find designs that artfully bring a space to life. It’s also not lost on me that the furniture I love the most, and have had the longest, are from the Driade collection. Not only does the Driade craft stand the test of time, I feel emotionally connected with their work. Hannah and I unquestionably have this in common, and we know many others feel the same way.“
They also note there will be other exciting brands on offer, previously unseen in Auckland, little surprises for those who visit their ‘jewel box’ space in Grey Lynn. For the collectors there are vintage Driade pieces that have been adored over decades and now fit into the ‘rare’ and ‘collector’ categories. They are lucky enough to have found a space with a vintage feel and an established garden courtyard, as a new home to the outdoor collection.
Surrounded by the bustle of local eateries, bars and businesses, the Indice Studio showroom is open now at 453 Richmond Road.
