Sunday 1 October 2023. St Matthew-in-the-City, Hobson Street in Auckland was host to 'The Blessing of the Animals' celebration last month.
The clergy included Rev. Diana Rattray, Rev. Wilt Holt and Rev. Cate Thorn.
The church was full of people and their pets – Animals from burly bulls to minuscule mice and everything in between were honoured during the annual day of blessing for the animal kingdom.
There were prayers, hymns and blessings. It was a beautiful day and nice to see people who truly love animals. The clergy was delighted with the turnout and there were dogs of all sizes and I think I spied a chicken there.
