London based artists (or human sculptures as they have been called) Gilbert & George have never been to Aotearoa New Zealand before so it was a real coup for the Auckland Art Gallery to entice them here. In their 50 plus years Gilbert & George have produced over 2,200 pictures - they choose 62 for their Auckland fans. At one point we said to Gilbert: “we hear you’re going back to London on Monday?” He replied, “who says we’re going back?!” We would have loved them to have stayed longer but a show at The Hayward Gallery was calling…
