The Covert Theatre is launching Auckland’s best EVER entertainment deal – the $42 Covert Comedy Season Pass – that gets you into every comedy show from September to December.
Aucklanders can enjoy four months of live comedy, improv and theatre for less than the cost of a movie ticket, thanks to a bold new initiative from the iconic Covert Theatre in Ponsonby.
With two shows every Friday and Saturday night and a packed programme of comedy, improv, sketch and live entertainment, the pass could provide access to more than 60 performances across the season – saving you thousands of dollars.
It’s only for a limited time with sales closing on Wednesday 5 August.
Wade Jackson, Covert Theatre Artistic Director says the idea was born out of a desire to make live entertainment more accessible during challenging economic times.
"Everyone is feeling the pressure of the cost-of-living crisis. We know people are being more careful about where they spend their money, but we also know how important laughter, connection and getting out of the house can be.
"We wanted to create something that removes the barrier to entry and encourages people to enjoy live comedy as often as they like."
The initiative comes at a time when arts organisations across New Zealand are grappling with rising costs and changing audience behaviour.
"We're asking Aucklanders to enjoy local theatre. Buy the pass once and then come as often as you want. Bring your sense of adventure and discover something new."
The offer has already generated excitement among regular audience members, with many describing it as one of the most affordable entertainment deals currently available in Auckland.
The Covert Comedy Season Pass is designed for everyone from comedy lovers and theatre regulars through to people who have never experienced live improv before.
The theatre hopes the initiative will help introduce a new generation of Aucklanders to live performance while generating crucial upfront revenue that supports local artists and productions.
"We're not just selling tickets," says Jackson. "We're inviting people to become part of the Covert community. Every pass sold helps support our community workshops, youth resilience programmes and live theatre in Auckland."
Pass holders will be able to book seats for eligible performances throughout the season, subject to availability.
Seeing as this offer is only for a limited time, the Covert is encouraging people to secure their pass early.
