A special public talk in celebration of the Up Against The Wall Exhibition is on show as part of the Auckland Festival of Photography
It’s been 25 years since kiwis and celebrities stood together to protect NZ’s GE-Free status. Not only did the nationwide movement unify our nation, but it helped to build public awareness, create strict GE controls and strengthened New Zealand’s clean, natural image as an export success story. Today, once again we sit at this crossroad. Our voices are needed again.

GE-free has helped define New Zealand’s national identity and our export reputation for safe, natural food. Although we are not as pure as we should be, strict regulation of GE has protected us against GE contamination.
Now those protections are set to be taken away, even when the risks are growing. Companies are combining Gene Technology, AI, nanotechnology and synthetic biology. It’s a battle for the future. The movement is needed again. Raise your voice for nature and future generations.
