New leadership structure sets the stage for growth, expanded community impact, and a stronger future.
The Board of Trustees of Grey Lynn Community Centre (GLCC) is delighted to announce the appointment of Ulata Hurt (pictured above) as Centre Manager – Grey Lynn, effective 18 May 2026. This appointment marks an exciting new chapter for GLCC as the organisation deepens its commitment to serving the diverse communities of Tāmaki Makaurau.
Alongside this appointment, the Board is pleased to confirm that David Williams – (pictured below) who has served as Centre Manager with distinction – steps into the newly created role of Manager, Community Places & Partnerships. In this strategic role, David will focus on building and strengthening community relationships, developing partnerships, and supporting the broader network of community places that GLCC serves.

A New Structure for a Stronger Future
This deliberate restructure reflects the GLCC Board’s vision for the future – one that enables greater capacity, specialisation, and community focus. As GLCC continues to grow its programmes, partnerships, and facilities, this new leadership model positions the organisation to expand its reach and deepen its impact across Grey Lynn and the wider city.
Commenting on the appointments, Board Chair Christopher Nolan-Downs said:
“We are thrilled to welcome Ulata into the Centre Manager role. Her energy, community-centred values, and commitment to whanaungatanga align perfectly with who we are at GLCC. At the same time, we are incredibly excited to see David bring his deep knowledge and relationships to bear in his new strategic role. Together, this leadership team will help us build a more connected, resilient, and thriving community hub – and we can’t wait to see what the future holds.”
— Christopher Nolan-Downs, Chairperson, GLCC Board of Trustees
