Taylors St. Andrews collection - A tribute to Scottish heritage and timeless elegance

Named after the historic property first established by Scottish immigrants in 1892, Taylors St. Andrews collection is Taylors flagship range, and a testament to Taylors commitment to excellence.
First released in 1999, this handcrafted range of wines, which is ideal for connoisseurs and collectors, exemplifies the very best of Clare Valley, Australia, winemaking.
To ensure the utmost quality, all wines within the St. Andrews collection have been meticulously sourced from the finest vineyards and the labels are all hand applied for the perfect finishing touch.
Mitchell Taylor, Taylors Wines’ third-generation winemaker and Chairman, said, “We are very proud of the wines within our flagship St. Andrews collection, which are the embodiment of tradition, innovation, and elegance, evident in every sip.”

Taylors St. Andrews Cabernet Sauvignon 2020
Showcasing the best of Clare Valley Cabernet, The Taylors St. Andrews Cabernet Sauvignon is a true expression of this iconic variety, offering rich fruit characters of cassis and ripe blackcurrants, alongside earthy nuances and subtle oak influences.
This well-balanced wine with layers of complexity features an enticing aroma of ripe blackcurrants, choc-mint, and a hint of dried tomato leaf, which interweave harmoniously with hints of cedar and tobacco.
Elegant and complex with long, fine tannins, it possesses all the characteristics that make great Cabernet Sauvignon so revered.
Taylors St. Andrews Cabernet Sauvignon is designed for both immediate enjoyment and long-term cellaring.
Given its complexity and structure, Taylors St. Andrews Cabernet Sauvignon is best paired with foods that can match or complement its intensity. Recommended pairings include:
  • Grilled ribeye steak – The wine’s tannins and bold fruit flavours are perfect with the marbling and char of a well-seasoned ribeye. Add a peppercorn sauce to enhance the pairing.
  • Rack of lamb with rosemary and garlic – The herbal notes in the lamb mirror the subtle eucalyptus/mint qualities in the wine, creating a harmonious match.
  • Mature cheddar or aged gouda – Hard cheeses with sharp, nutty profiles stand up well to the wine’s structure and tannins.
  • Beef Wellington – The richness of the pastry, beef, and mushroom works well with the wine’s depth and balance.
  • Dark chocolate with sea salt or a blackcurrant ganache – For dessert, the wine’s dark fruit and slight bitterness complement rich, not-too-sweet chocolate with a savoury or fruity edge.

Taylors St. Andrews Shiraz 2020
The Taylors St. Andrews Shiraz is a rich, full-bodied wine that showcases the best of the Clare Valley, Australia, terroir.
At release, the wine boasts a concentrated ruby red colour with a dark purple hue. The nose is complex with concentrated aromas of violets, dark plum, and liquorice, with the added complexity of creamy American oak.
The voluptuous and well-balanced palate has layers of flavour and excellent mid-palate expression. Fresh red berry fruits are complemented by mocha and vanilla spice, while the long, persistent finish leaves a lasting impression. The wine was fermented in headless American oak barrels and aged for 18 months, resulting in an elegant finish.
Taylors St. Andrews Shiraz has been crafted for immediate enjoyment but will cellar over a long term under ideal conditions.
For the perfect match, enjoy Taylors St. Andrews Shiraz with hearty dishes. Suggestions include:
  • Slow-cooked beef brisket – The wine’s dark fruit and spice cut through the richness of slow-cooked meat, while the smoky elements from oak complement the caramelised crust.
  • Spiced lamb tagine – North African spices (cinnamon, cumin, coriander) match beautifully with shiraz’s warmth and depth, and the sweetness from dried fruits ties in with the wine’s ripe profile.
  • Chargrilled sausages with caramelized onions – The smoky, savoury flavours from grilled meats pair wonderfully with the wine’s bold fruit and spice
  • Dark chocolate tart with a raspberry coulis – For dessert, a rich chocolate tart mirrors the wine’s chocolatey notes, while raspberry coulis lifts the pairing with a touch of acidity and fruit.

The Taylors St. Andrews Shiraz 2020 and Taylors St. Andrews Cabernet Sauvignon 2020 are available now from select bottle shops across New Zealand with prices starting from $64.99.
