“Our annual Matariki Planting Day is about people coming together, connecting with the whenua and giving back to the taiao. It is a hands-on way for everyone, from tamariki through to kaumātua, to take part in Matariki and contribute to the restoration and care of Takaparawhau,” says organiser, Levi Watene.
Held at Te Pou Whakairo, 59B Kitemoana Street, Ōrākei, the annual Matariki Planting Day is a special opportunity for everyone in Tāmaki to come together and give back to whenua during the Matariki season.
This year, around 3000 native plants will be planted on Takaparawhau, Bastion Point, helping to restore and nurture the taiao. Tamariki, rangatahi, pakeke and kaumātua are all welcome to take part in this hands-on day for all ages.
Bring your gumboots, gloves and good vibes.
