Kia ora koutou,
During the winter months, it’s harder to leave the warmth and comfort of home. However, conversely, you need a little social interaction and connection to lift mood and morale. If you would like to meet folk with similar interests and need some encouragement to leave your house, we have a range of programmes to entice you.
Book Chats
Last Thursday of the month. 10am-11am.
One of our longest-running programmes is Book Chats. And, although we are not one hundred percent certain, we think Book Chats may have been in existence for 20 years. Each month our lovely librarian Fine previews new and noteworthy fiction and nonfiction. The other important component of this programme is the group discussions which are fun, lively and informative. There is a great sense of warmth and friendship within this group which makes it inviting to newcomers.
Social Knitting
Third Tuesday of the month. 2-3pm.
This is customer-led group. We provide a space where you can work on your craft projects while chatting with others.
Little Leys Classic Film Club
Grey Lynn Library Hall.
Please check with either Leys or Grey Lynn Libraries for times and dates.
This is another long-running group. The club focuses on notable, often critically acclaimed movies from last century. The audience votes for each season’s theme: there are four seasons, six films per season. Each movie is accompanied by an introduction and post screen discussion.
Wriggle and Rhyme
Weekly on Wednesdays. Only during the school term.
Two sessions. 10am and 11am.
The Ponsonby Baptist Hall.
Wriggle and Rhyme is for babies, toddlers and their caregivers. There is active movement, singing and lots of fun. Aside from the learning opportunities for the little ones, it’s also a chance for caregivers to connect with others. Lastly, we have an author talk to tell you about.
Rightsizing Your Home
