New World has announced its top picks for its annual beer and cider awards, with Isthmus brewing taking out the Supreme Champion award for its flagship beer: the 3D IPA.
Judges blind-tasted and awarded the best of the best of Kiwi brewing that ranged from traditional excellence to playful innovation:
- This year marks the debut of the "Weird & Wonderful" category, with marvels from the tangy Garage Project Spicy Pickle to the sweet fruit smoothie of Three Sisters Lush
- For the first time ever, New World is honouring Alcoholic Lemonade from Frankton favorites Good George - made Old School.
- Those seeking alcoholic-free alternatives won't have to sacrifice full-bodied flavour with Bach's of All Hazy Non-Alcoholic and cider innovator Peckham's Classic Apple Zero.
- Many winners are proud to hark back to nostalgic brews but made with a modern twist, like the hoppy Pilsners from debut winners Heaven's Judas Sheep and Mad Whale's Helles Lager.
- But the Supreme Champions, Isthmus Brewing, make a comeback with their flagship beer: the 3D IPA. Co-owners Hamish and Caroline creation is the epitome of their philosophy of drinkability while staying true to its cult sensation and award-winning status.
This year, New World made the competition even tougher by shortening the legacy Top 30 list to a Top 25.
This rounds out the Top 25 of the New World Beer and Cider Awards as a true showcase of the nostalgic and the fresh coming to New Zealand shelves. It's a celebration of creativity, quality, and Kiwi resilience. This one is not one to be ignored.
