Neon to give audiences something to scream about this Halloween as A24’s Crystal Lake comes to life with Neon Presents: A Night at Crystal Lake.
This October, Neon is taking horror fans from watching Crystal Lake to living it with A Night at Crystal Lake, an exclusive two-night experience bringing the world of all-new Friday the 13th prequel to life at Spookers, New Zealand’s number 1 haunted attraction.
On 14 and 15 October, fans will get a first look at episode one of A24’s Crystal Lake before leaving the safety of their seats and stepping straight into Camp Crystal Lake.
Crystal Lake premieres on Neon on 15 October, taking audiences back to the origins of the Friday the 13th story. Starring Emmy Award winner Linda Cardellini as Pamela Voorhees, the prequel follows a mother still consumed by grief almost a year after her young son Jason drowned at Crystal Lake. When two strangers arrive looking into Pamela’s past, their questions set off a disturbing chain of events across the town, revealing the story behind Camp Crystal Lake and one of horror’s most enduring legends.
For decades, the Friday the 13th horror franchise has had audiences shouting at the screen as characters make choices they are certain they would never make themselves. Don’t split up. Don’t investigate the noise. And definitely don’t go into the woods!
A Night at Crystal Lake puts those survival instincts to the test, taking fans from watching the story unfold on screen, to finding themselves inside Camp Crystal Lake, where those decisions may not feel quite so obvious.
Across two nights, Spookers will be transformed into Camp Crystal Lake, extending the world of the series into its surrounding woods as counsellors, Pamela Voorhees and Jason appear throughout the experience. When the credits roll, the night is only just beginning, as fans move from the story into the world they’ve just watched.
Fiona Murray, Sky’s Head of Entertainment Content, says: “We are excited to bring the Friday 13th franchise’s infamous summer camp to life at Spookers this Halloween in celebration of the launch of A24’s new series, Crystal Lake.”
“We hope fans have a frightfully good time immersing themselves in this unique experience, discovering the Crystal Lake series, and exploring Neon’s extensive collection of horror films and series throughout October.”
Neon is giving away double passes to Neon Presents: A Night at Crystal Lake, available on a first come, first served basis. Fans can claim their complimentary passes at Iticket.co.nz/spookers-camp-crystal-lake while they last. Crystal Lake will be available to stream on Neon from 11pm on 15 October.
Beyond Crystal Lake, Neon's Halloween line-up includes new mystery thriller YAGA, premiering 23 October. Starring Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix), Hudson Williams (Heated Rivalry), Noah Reid (Schitt's Creek) and Clark Backo (Letterkenny), the series follows a private investigator drawn to a small coastal town by the disappearance of a young heir to a powerful fishery, whose search uncovers secret lives, enigmatic suspects and ancient magic.
Horror fans can also revisit classics and discover new releases, from the original Friday the 13th to Scream 7 and 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, alongside The Terror, Witchboard and Nightbitch. For something a little less scary, The Addams Family and Dead Set, bring spooky comedy, alongside new series Eternally Yours, premiering 9 October, in which a vampire couple's 500-year marriage is upended by their daughter's earnest human boyfriend. Rounding out the month, Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 premieres on Halloween, 31 October.
