The Rise Iran meeting in Ponsonby's Western Park was well attended as Dr Hesam Shad told Ponsonby News.
"We had a meaningful gathering on Saturday at Western Park, with Iranian New Zealanders and supporters from the wider New Zealand community coming together in support of freedom, human rights and democracy.
"It was particularly moving to see people from different nationalities join us, proudly carrying their own national flags to show their solidarity and support for the Iranian people and their aspirations for freedom and a better future."
