LETTER FROM THE EDITORS

The hospitality business is tough these days which is why it’s good to see businesses working closely together – a good example is Grey Lynn’s Ozone café. Once the café is closed for the day, Cassia’s team move in for their evening service.

It’s also great news to see Cassia mentioned as one of 60 restaurants included in the Michelin Guide selected, celebrating culinary excellence.

Cassia along with locals Ada, Jervois Steak House, Kol and Rag Tag are in.

Congratulations to Paris Butter for getting one star. Set in an understated space with an elegant interior, Paris Butter presents a season-driven tasting menu featuring peak New Zealand produce. European techniques are combined with subtle Asian influences for a refined and modern dining experience.

Another example of locals working together is Ponsonby Baptist Church running concerts every two months – we enjoyed their Queen Tribute evening and also their Bowie night. The next one is Elton John.

Coming up, Bar Albert is throwing Cassia a welcome party.

Cassia and Bar Albert come together for one special evening this August.

Bar Albert, voco Auckland's sky-high cocktail bar on the 38th floor, is rolling out the welcome mat for its new neighbour Cassia, the acclaimed modern Indian restaurant from chef-owners Sid and Chand Sahrawat, which is moving in downstairs on the corner of Albert and Wyndham Street.

To celebrate Cassia’s arrival to Midtown, the city is invited to the welcome party at Bar Albert. Welcome to the Neighbourhood: An Evening with Cassia and Bar Albert takes place on Tuesday 11 August as part of Auckland Restaurant Month, bringing the two venues together for one very special night of food, drinks, and celebration.

Guests will arrive to a glass of Louis Roederer Champagne before savouring a selection of snacks from Sid's kitchen - each one a taste of what’s ahead for Cassia. The Bar Albert team has created two original cocktails using Waiheke Distilling Co. Spirits inspired by the aromatic spirit of Cassia's cooking: warm spice, unexpected depth, and the kind of drinks that invite you to linger.

Tickets are $95 per person and are available to purchase here website: Cassia X Bar Albert | Restaurant Month Numbers are limited.

Bar Albert Food and Beverage Manager, Razman Ramzan, said “Cassia is one of those restaurants that makes a neighbourhood, and we couldn't be more thrilled to have Sid, Chand and the team moving in downstairs. We wanted to mark the occasion properly, so we're throwing a welcome party that brings the best of Bar Albert and Cassia together. Come up and raise a glass to our new neighbours.”  (MARTIN LEACH & JAY PLATT)
