Having lost stores on the strip, like Adorno, Kate Sylvester and Zambesi, it’s great to see new retailers coming to Ponsonby. Last month, APT Collections opened its 10th fashion store at 89 Ponsonby Road. Just as we were uploading this month’s issue we see Mecca Beauty store is opening a huge store within Pompalier on Ponsonby, up at Three Lamps.

For the foodies among us, we are pleased to report that Cassia is relocating temporarily to Westmorland Street to share the space with Ozone. This move is an interim step until Cassia’s new restaurant in Albert Street is ready for its permanent home.

This month, we also catch up with Lumino Ponsonby, who has a simple philosophy: great dentistry starts with great people. Find out more – P16

Keep yourself safe from scams. AI tools can now clone a person’s face, voice and writing style in seconds, making it nearly impossible to tell real from fake. But the face is often just packaging. The engine is usually the message itself: the script, the call to action, the pressure and the promise.

Ponsonby News has three copies of Norton 360 Premium to give away to three lucky readers.

You may have heard that this iconic part of our community (Gypsy Tea Room) is being shut by Barfoot & Thompson, for no reason. The community is confused and upset that something which makes our neighbourhood so great is being forced to move. Almost 3000 people have signed a petiton protesting against this and now it is time for action.

Come to a public meeting next Wednesday – 10 June. The purpose is to demonstrate how upset people are about B & T’s decision and how much the community wants to save this legendary institution.

B & T have been invited to attend to explain what it is doing and why. Make sure you are there to show the depth of feeling that exists about the closing of this iconic part of our community. Please help spread the word – the greater the turnout, the greater the impact.

All welcome. When: WEDNESDAY 10 JUNE FROM 7PM. Where: Upstairs at Grey Lynn RSC, Francis Street.
