The team here at Ponsonby News loves watching house and garden programmes on our screens. This month, we feature Robin O’Donnell Architects, a boutique architectural practice that specialises in bespoke residential alterations, additions and new builds.

This award-winning practice was founed 27 years ago and has an established reputation in its architectural niche, having won a number of prestigious NZIA Architectural Awards over the years. The principal – Robin O’Donnell – is also a greater Ponsonby local who has lived in both Grey Lynn and Herne Bay for over 35 years. Let his team help you achieve the home that you have always dreamt of.

We also talk to Home Ease Solutions, a new business led by Kim, who brings a wealth of life experience and a practical, hands-on approach to preparing houses for sale. They are a one-stop shop for a sale-ready home.

Five years ago, Clinic 1 opened their doors on College Hill with a small team, a carefully selected range of advanced treatments and a clear vision to create a space where results-driven aesthetics meet genuine care.

Last month, we attended the launch of ‘CONFIDENTLY COLOURFUL’, the Lahood Colourways Collection. If you need a freshen up, they are offering 25% off all curtain making on all Colourways fabrics throughout May 2026.

This month we also catch up with Lumino Ponsonby, who have a simple philosophy: great dentistry starts with great people.

The ‘Gutter Bar’ is an extremely funny, satirical novel set around the advertising industry in London and the annual global shindig in Cannes. Paul Catmur, who has lived in the Ponsonby area since arriving from the UK in 2000, recently published his first book.

Te Rimutahi is one year old this month, having officially opened on 17 May, 2025. Already, Te Rimutahi is a community hub and a welcome destination in the heart of Ponsonby.

Ponsonby Kindergarten recently celebrated (26 February) its 100-year birthday with a community afternoon tea.

SCAMS ARE GETTING SMARTER. AI tools can now clone a person’s face, voice and writing style in seconds, making it nearly impossible to tell real from fake. But the face is often just packaging. The engine is usually the message itself: the script, the call to action, the pressure and the promise. (Jay Platt & Martin Leach)
