As part of Organic Wine Week (21–27 September), Down to Earth returns to Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland, bringing more than 70 certified organic wines to Jacuzzi Bar Ponsonby on Tuesday 22 September, from 6pm–8pm.
Presented by Organic Winegrowers NZ, this relaxed walk-around tasting offers the chance to meet the people behind the wines, discover new favourites and learn more about the environmental benefits of organic winegrowing – all while enjoying thoughtful finger food, good conversation and a great Ponsonby atmosphere.
Since launching in Auckland in 2023, Down to Earth has become a fixture on the city’s organic wine calendar. After previously being held at Brad’s Warehouse and the Sapphire Room at Ponsonby Central, the event is returning to Ponsonby, this time at Jacuzzi Bar.
“We loved the vibe in Ponsonby, so we’re delighted to be back,” says Organic Winegrowers NZ Marketing & Events Coordinator Naomi Galvin. “Jacuzzi Bar is an incredible space and the perfect new setting for this year’s gathering.”
The venue at 150 Ponsonby Road also has plenty of history. For more than two decades, it was home to the legendary SPQR. Now, Jacuzzi Bar is bringing fresh energy to this iconic Ponsonby address.
Across the country, Organic Wine Week features pop-up tastings, winemaker dinners, wine-list takeovers, retail promotions and more, with Down to Earth as its flagship event.
“Organic wine consumption is growing, defying the global trend of declining wine consumption. A new generation of consumers is emerging – people who are increasingly environmentally conscious and demand transparency and integrity,” says Organic Winegrowers NZ Chair Nick Paulin. Organic wine is well placed to meet this growing demand.
