Crying Ivy from Western Springs College -  first place winners in the Smokefreerockquest for the Auckland Central region

Crying Ivy are four-piece alternative psych band from Western Springs College-Ngā Puna o Waiōrea and Saint Kentigern College. With two single releases already under their belt, Crying Ivy are quickly becoming one of the most active and promising emerging artists from Tāmaki Makaurau. The group gigs regularly across the city, and in 2025, they performed at The Others Way festival and had a single reach #1 on the 95bFM Top Ten.

Across three nights from 4–6 June, 36 emerging young bands from Tāmaki Makaurau took to the stage at The Dorothy Winstone Centre for the 2026 Smokefreerockquest Auckland Regional Finals.
