St Matthew in-the-City’s Blessing of the Animals service returns Sunday 4 October at 1pm.
This year we are delighted to support the work of Mobility Assistance Dogs Trust, a registered charity, that trains and places Assistance Dogs with people living with disabilities and other challenges.
Mobility Dogs offer a variety of support:
· Physical and practical task assistance for people with physical disabilities.
· Therapy Dogs provide support within approved workplaces and the community.
· Companion Dogs support an individual or family in their unique situations.
The Trust has a small team of dedicated staff. Puppies are mostly socialised and trained in the community, by volunteer puppy raisers. Advanced training occurs within the Puppies in Prison Programme, a highly successful venture run in partnership with the Department of Corrections. Prisoners value the sense of purpose the programme offers and in turn develop skills invaluable to their rehabilitation.
The Trust relies entirely on Grants and Donations for its existence. No Government funding is received.
The Trust’s motto: “Life Changing Loyalty” is truly demonstrated in all aspects of its work.
All animals are welcome at the Blessing. Please ensure dogs and larger animals are on a lead; smaller animals protected in a cage.
