More than 800 parents and children visited Fulton Hogan sites across Auckland last Friday, making this year’s Bring Your Kids to Work day the biggest yet.
Held on the final day of the school holidays, the event welcomed whānau to Reliable Way,
Albany and Dalgety Depots, giving children a behind-the-scenes look at the people, plant and purpose behind the work that keeps Auckland moving.
Alongside machinery displays, face painting, bouncy castles and ice cream, the day also put culture and community front and centre with the launch of Tasi’s Road Adventures – a new children’s colouring and activity book created by members of Fulton Hogan’s Pasifika Leadership Programme, Taeao Fou.
The book introduces tamariki to the world of infrastructure through Tasi and a cast of characters from across the business, while also celebrating the diverse Pasifika cultures that help shape Fulton Hogan’s workforce in Aotearoa.
Supply Chain Executive Divisional Manager, Jun Lee, said the launch was a proud moment for the team and for the wider Auckland business.
“Bring Your Kids to Work is always a special day, but this year felt even more meaningful. It was a chance for our people to share not only what they do, but who they are – with their children, their partners and each other.
“Launching Tasi’s Road Adventures at the event made that even more special. It reflects the pride our Pasifika people have in their culture, their work and their communities, and the way those things come together at Fulton Hogan.”
Created by Taeao Fou team members Nafu Masoe, Derek Teariki, Juvon Ford, Sosefo Kama and Danny Falakoa, the book helps young readers learn more about Fulton Hogan, road safety and the different cultures represented across its teams.
In the story, Tasi meets Ana from the Cook Islands, Vili from Fiji, Pita from Niue, Lele from Samoa, Sione from Tonga and Hine from Aotearoa, picking up safety messages and language tips along the way.
The launch follows national recognition for Taeao Fou, which last month received the New Zealand Association for Training and Development’s Best Leadership Programme Award.
First piloted in Auckland in 2025, the programme expanded nationally this year. It was designed to grow leadership opportunities for Pasifika employees while celebrating the cultures, perspectives and strengths they bring to the business and to the communities Fulton Hogan serves.
For Fulton Hogan, the success of this year’s Auckland event reflects more than a popular family day out. It highlights the role workplaces can play in strengthening community connection, creating a sense of belonging, and helping the next generation see themselves in the future of New Zealand infrastructure.
