Abstract Hotel is pleased to announce the appointment of Jeffrey Lee as General Manager, effective 1 June 2026. Jeffrey’s appointment marks an exciting new chapter for Abstract as he brings with him 23 years of experience across some of Australasia’s most prestigious hotels.
Jeffrey’s career spans senior leadership roles at Hilton Hotels in Auckland, Brisbane, and Lake Taupō, as well as Fable Group Hotels in Auckland and Dunedin. He completed Director training at Hilton Brisbane and over the years has built his expertise in hotel operations, strategic leadership and team development.
Most recently, Jeffrey served as General Manager of Dunedin’s five-star Fable Hotel, where his leadership delivered outstanding results. Under his stewardship, the property was awarded Best Luxury Hotel at the Hospitality NZ Awards in 2021, followed by the Grand Business South Award for Excellence in Service in 2022.
Jeffrey puts people at the heart of his work and says, “A great team of people who are motivated and inspired is the key to success in any business. Abstract is a four-star hotel, but we can deliver five-star service. We want guests to experience that from the moment they check in. They should feel that everything is seamless and enjoy the many special touches we offer.”
Of his vision for Abstract Hotel, Jeffrey says, “Abstract is a beautiful property in an excellent location, just off K’ Road. It’s close to so many things: the city, Ponsonby and the Domain. We want the hotel to reflect that it is part of this vibrant, creative community and to bring that to life for our guests.”

On a personal level, Jeffrey is excited to be returning to Auckland and as an avid photographer, he is looking forward to capturing K’ Road’s great architecture and enjoying its thriving food and retail scene.
