Little Bird Organics is spearheading New Zealand's organic wholefoods revolution by joining forces with the country's most experienced social entrepreneurs, Malcolm and Melanie Rands.

The Rands founded Ecostore and are now backing the vision of Megan May and Jeremy Bennett, who launched Little Bird Organics eight years ago to provide people with better access to quality, organic, plant-based wholefoods.

The company will launch an equity crowdfunding campaign across the PledgeMe network on Thursday, February 22, 2018.

It is the first time shares have been offered to the public with 20% of the total shares in Little Bird Organics Limited available. Interested investors are invited to attend Q&A sessions taking place in Auckland and Wellington, beginning next week. All the details are available on Invest In Little Bird.

The month-long initiative has a fundraising target of $500,000 and an upper limit of $2,000,000.

A successful PledgeMe campaign will allow Little Bird Organics to become a significant player in the FMCG market, both locally and internationally.

Malcolm and Melanie are cornerstone shareholders and join Megan and Jeremy on the Little Bird board. With the Rands' help, the business also recently appointed a new General Manager with international experience in the organics industry, Leonard Mead.

"Little Bird Organics has grown quickly and its potential to continue to lead and drive the development of the plant-based food industry in New Zealand is further strengthened through our investment. We see it as an opportunity to significantly grow the organic food industry and increase access to quality, plant-based food for everyone" explains Malcolm Rands. "It's great to work with a beautiful brand that's stayed true to its values of respecting the earth and the health of the people living on it."

Passion, determination, developing a consistent supply of quality products and building a loyal following of customers have seen Little Bird Organics evolve into an internationally known brand and a well-recognised leader in the fast-growing plant-based food industry.

The business currently ships over 20,000 units per week to retailers and Co-Founder Megan May has just released her second cookbook, Little Bird Goodness.

The business has also diversified. Just last year they began to supply ready-made meals to Emirates Leisure Retail at Auckland International Airport and through the Huckleberry and Commonsense Organics grocery chains.

In 2017, Little Bird Organics also released two new product ranges, putting 10 new products on shelves nationwide.
Making plant-based foods more accessible to the mainstream is an important mission and one the business knows can be achieved by raising the investment needed to meet demand.

"There is so much evidence both nationally and internationally showing that healthy food is the fastest growing category in supermarkets," says Megan May. "The demand for our products from both supermarkets nationwide and international distributors just keeps growing."

Little Bird Organics is committed to using its position to further develop the organic food industry in New Zealand and to carve out a global path to market for quality New Zealand plant-based products, developed with a passion for organic, ethical and sustainable sources.

That's why the team at Little Bird Organics is calling for new investment from like-minded customers and health-conscious consumers who want to put their money into exploring better ways to develop the future of food.
