Just a few nights a year, one of Auckland’s finest dining establishments raises the steaks with its exclusive Wagyu Evening series...
Jervois Steak House knows its way around a piece of the most prized beef on the planet, so its series of evenings paying homage to this delicacy remain firmly on the calendar.
For the event later this month, JSH has partnered with renowned winery Te Kairanga to pour its premium wines alongside some of New Zealand’s most succulent Wagyu.
Te Kairanga is an important part of the Martinborough wine story, and was originally owned by the founding father of Martinborough, John Martin. A dry, open valley with rich soil and four vineyard sites, Te Kairanga has an array of aromatics, flavours, textures and styles to work with, and is renowned for its exceptional Pinot Noir.
Guests will be able to explore a selection of wines by tasting, glass or bottle, which are all specially priced exclusively for the event, and perfectly matched with Wagyu. The wines on offer for the evening include the 2020 WPF Pinot Noir, the 2021 John Martin Pinot Noir, the 2021 John Martin Chardonnay, the 2022 Runholder Pinot Noir and the 2022 Te Kairanga Estate Rosé.
The menu, a five-course degustation created by executive chef Gavin Doyle, includes grass-fed Wagyu beef tartare, beef fat crumpet; a grilled Wagyu scotch with Montpellier butter, asparagus and Gimblett Gravels jus, and a bone marrow crème brûlée.
There are just two of these exclusive nights this year - Tuesday 31st October (with Te Kairanga wines), and Tuesday 21st November (with Martinborough Vineyard wines), so book now to avoid disappointment.
Bookings essential. Seatings from 5:30pm. $170 pp (wine additional). Visit jervoissteakhouse.co.nz for more information.
