Participating Subway® restaurants in Ponsonby ready to help Kiwi’s in need

Participating Subway® restaurants in Ponsonby are ready to help Kiwi’s

Each month, KiwiHarvest collects more than 65,000 kilos of surplus food from supermarkets, wholesalers, growers, manufacturers, producers, markets, cafes, restaurants and hotels and distributes it to over 220 New Zealand charities including Women’s Refuge and local community foodbanks which help provide food relief to those who need it the most.

Subway invites the Ponsonby community to join in the celebrations this Friday, 2 November. Every guest who visits participating restaurants and purchases a sub, salad or wrap on the day will get one free, and Subway will donate the cost of a meal to KiwiHarvest.

Around New Zealand, Subway restaurants are getting into the celebrations; restaurants will be decorated, staff will be in costume, there will be face painting for the kids, free cookies available and some special guest appearances.

“Subway is incredibly passionate about the World Sandwich Day initiative. We recognise that the percentage of New Zealanders classed as living below the poverty line is reaching crisis levels, we are banding together with Subway restaurants around New Zealand to contribute to raising awareness and some much-needed funds ahead of Christmas,” says New Zealand, Business Development Agent, Mark Hawes.

Each donation on Friday, 2 November will be captured on the Subway Live Feed digital tracker, and guests are invited to follow the progress online at www.SubwayLiveFeed.co.nz.

“We’re proud to host the Subway Live Feed event across New Zealand for a second year to support the growing number of New Zealanders suffering from food insecurity. Last year we donated close to 90,000 meals, and this year we want to do even better. Please join us at Subway restaurants across the Ponsonby this Friday to be part of the fight against hunger”, says Subway CEO Geoff Cockerill.

With your help, Subway New Zealand aims to donate more than 100,000 meals to KiwiHarvest this year.
